Nothing special here. Macelli muffed the shot and instead passed the puck behind his back to his teammate on the right side. The goalie was looking at Hayton so he wasn't really out of position. Hayton shot the puck which cleared Grubauer's right shoulder. End of story. If Seattle had a defenseman who was crosschecking, he would have knocked Macelli down or they would have at least cleared the puck from the zone. Instead they are skating around in circles. Blame the Kraken defense for this.
As for making passes behind their back and faking a shot, look at Bobby Orr or even Darryl Sutter. Precisely Bruins and Blackhawks old footage.
You discussed Wayne Gretzky. All three wingers: Gretzky, Messier, and Finland's finest, Jari Kurri could also do it for Edmonton. Paul Coffey as well.
Edit: I added the Edmonton Oiler players.
